The first thing we need to do on becoming a manager is to work out what the role entails – what is expected of us, and the kind of manager we want to be. This is a vital step that many of us miss, but it’s vital in helping us work out how to be the best we can be and get the best from others.

Once you know what you need to do, there are a number of tools, models and techniques that can help you. They can provide you with a framework that you can tailor to your style to enable you to be a great manager.

In this programme, we will work through a variety of subjects that will help you to understand what is needed from you to be a successful manager.  We will introduce you to some practical techniques that will help you to get the best from your people, and we will look at how to make sure you spend time doing what you need to do.

Successful completion of the programme will lead to the Institute of Leadership and Management award at level 3.
